Challenges of Young People in the European Parliament

Young people face several challenges when trying to navigate the European Parliament and engage in its processes. One of the main difficulties is the complexity of EU legislation and procedures, which can be overwhelming for those unfamiliar with political institutions. Additionally, language barriers can create obstacles, as the European Parliament operates in multiple languages, making communication and understanding more difficult.

Access to decision-makers and the ability to influence policies is another challenge, as the political environment is often dominated by experienced politicians and lobbyists. Furthermore, financial constraints may limit participation, as internships or opportunities in Brussels can be costly, making it harder for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to get involved.
